A nonprofit health-data exchange advocate, the Sequoia Project, won a four-year contract to develop a common set of standards for health-care organizations that share electronic health data, according to a Sept. 3 announcement.
The contract was awarded by the Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology. The Sequoia Project will hold the title of “Recognized Coordinating Entity” and will receive $900,000 during its first year of operation. Funding for future years of the four-year contract will be dependent on available funds.
