Minority groups hit hardest by the Covid-19 pandemic will be the focus of a $12 million outreach campaign to reduce the impact of the disease and improve clinical trial enrollment.
The National Institutes of Health is funding research teams in 11 states for a new program known as NIH Community Engagement Alliance Against COVID-19 Disparities. According to the Covid Tracking Project, Black Americans are dying at 2.4 times the rate of whites, but a Pew study found Black Americans are more reluctant to trust scientists or get vaccinated.
