NextEra Gets Antitrust Claims Nixed in Clean Energy Project Suit

NextEra Energy Inc. escaped antitrust claims in a suit by a rival who alleged the electricity supplier delayed the permitting and approval process needed for the $1 billion New England Clean Energy Connect project.

Plaintiff Avangrid Inc.'s complaint “fails to plausibly state violations of Section 2 of the Sherman Act and the Massachusetts Antitrust Act,” said Mark G. Mastroianni of the US District Court for the District Court for the District of Massachusetts in a Monday opinion.

The court will issue a separate order on the remaining state-law claims.
