New York Seeks Federal Probe of Texas Order on Transgender Kids

The Biden administration should investigate Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s recent directive to treat gender-affirming care for transgender children as child abuse, New York’s attorney general said.

The real harm to transgender youth is the bullying and ostracizing they face for being branded “different,” New York Attorney General Letitia James said Tuesday in a letter to the U.S. Justice Department.

“The fact that the governor would seek to separate a child from their parents based on treatment that is so widely recommended by medical experts speaks to his fundamental misunderstanding of this issue,” James said.
