New York Hospital Avoids Questions About Doctor Credentialing

“General” information about a hospital’s physician credentialing procedures is protected by a New York law that applies to data related to medical or quality assurance reviews, a state appeals court said Tuesday.

Montefiore Medical Center met its burden of showing that the statutory privilege for documents obtained or maintained in connection with medical review procedures prohibited Yvette Bamberg-Taylor from compelling it to produce a deposition witness to answer questions about its credentialing process, the New York Supreme Court Appellate Division, First Department, said.
