New Jersey Gets Federal Approval to Bolster Obamacare Plans (1)

New Jersey is the latest state to get an Obamacare waiver designed to keep down health insurance premiums.

The state will use it to reimburse health insurance carriers for high-cost claims, after getting federal approval for the program Aug. 16.

The Garden State will receive federal funds to help cover the cost of the state-run reinsurance program, which aims to reduce premiums in the individual market by 15 percent, the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance said. The state has requested $218 million to support the program in 2019.
