New Jersey Doctor Resolves $700,000 False Claims Allegations

A New Jersey doctor has agreed to pay nearly $700,000 to resolve allegations that he and his practice violated the False Claims Act, the US Justice Department said in a press statement on Thursday.

Between January 2017 and June 2022, Arun Sehgal and his medical practice, Preventive & Diagnostic Medical Center P.A., allegedly upcoded physician services and billed for more services than they could provide. Sehgal also allegedly billed for services that he never actually provided, including some on dates when he was not physically in the country, prosecutors said.
