The owner of a now-defunct New Jersey mobile dentistry practice who had already been incarcerated for tax evasion and bankruptcy fraud was sentenced to eight years in prison and ordered to pay $7 million in restitution and penalties in a separate health-care fraud case.
Stephen Beukas, a dentist who owned New Jersey Mobile Dental PA in Colts Neck, N.J., had pleaded guilty in September to second-degree misconduct by a corporate official, state Attorney General Christopher S. Porrino said in announcing the sentence. Judge Joseph W. Oxley of state Superior Court, Monmouth County, handed down the sentence Dec. 15.
