Merideth C. Norris, a physician in Kennebunk, Maine, has been arrested and faces 10 counts of illegal distribution of opioids and other controlled substances, according to the Department of Justice Wednesday.
The charges were brought by the New England Prescription Opioid Strike Force. Norris allegedly prescribed opioids in addition to other controlled substances without a legitimate medical purpose, the agency said.
She faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted, said the agency.
