Nepali Test-Takers Fail in Bias Suit Against Medical Examiners

Two Nepali doctors can’t proceed with claims that a medical licensing board unlawfully threw out their scores on a crucial exam based on their ethnicity and national origin, a federal court said.

Judge Christopher R. Cooper, of the US District Court for the District of Columbia, on Monday dismissed Latika Giri and Swechha Shrestha’s proposed class action discrimination suit against the National Board of Medical Examiners. The doctors waived their claims by signing release forms prior to filing an amended complaint, Cooper said. The suit failed in any event, because the doctors didn’t state valid discrimination claims, the judge said. ...
