Need a Lyft? States Explore Ride-Sharing for Medicaid Patients

Lyft and other ride-sharing companies could ferry Medicaid patients to doctors’ appointments in several states while the federal government postpones a plan to drop transportation requirements for the needy.

Lyft announced June 26 it won approval from Arizona to become the first ride-sharing company to provide transportation for Medicaid patients to their appointments, and more states could soon follow.

“We are currently enrolling and exploring opportunities in other states, including Texas and Florida,” a Lyft spokesperson told Bloomberg Law.
