National Public Radio wants the U.S. Health and Human Services Department to turn over data about the government’s distribution of defective coronavirus test kits to laboratories at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The mistake “slowed testing for the virus during the key early weeks of the outbreak in the United States, hindering containment efforts and leading to an unknown number of otherwise preventable deaths,” NPR said in a Freedom of Information Act complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia Thursday.
