National Cancer Institute Wants $10 Billion for Fiscal 2024 (1)

The National Cancer Institute laid out a $10 billion spending plan for fiscal year 2024, marking one of its most ambitious budget proposals that calls for a more than 30% increase over last year’s request.

The institute released Thursday its fiscal 2024 professional judgment budget, an annual report issued directly to the president and Congress identifying research priorities and areas of potential investment. It comes days after President Joe Biden‘s speech on his Cancer Moonshot initiative, one of his personal priorities, which aims to cut the cancer death rate in half over the next 25 years.
