New York state is expanding the eligibility for monkeypox vaccines to include all individuals at risk of becoming infected.
Eligibility earlier was limited to those who were likely exposed. It’s now expended to anyone who may be at risk of exposure to the infection, the state Department of Health announced Wednesday.
Those people include gay men and members of the bisexual, transgender, and gender non-conforming community, as well as communities of men who have sex with men and have engaged in intimate or skin-to skin-contact in the past 14 days in areas where monkeypox is spreading.
