More Consumers Using Cell Phones to Access Health Data; Most Using Smartphones

The number of consumers who use mobile phone technology to access health information continues to climb, with the highest level of growth among smartphone users, according to the results of a national survey released Dec. 3 by the Pew Research Center’s Internet & American Life Project.

The survey found that 31 percent of cell phone owners used their devices in the past year to look for health-related information. That is up from 17 percent in a similar survey two years ago, according to the Mobile Health 2012 survey.
