Montana Voters Add Abortion Access Rights to State Constitution

Montana will add reproductive rights, including abortion access, to the state constitution after a measure won support from more than half of voters, the Associated Press said.

The amendment (CI-128) prohibits “the government from denying or burdening the right to abortion before fetal viability,” or roughly 24 weeks of pregnancy, and after this point if a “treating healthcare professional determines it is medically indicated to protect the pregnant patient’s life or health.”
