Missouri’s last abortion clinic will stay open for the time being after prevailing in an initial legal skirmish over the renewal of its license.
Judge Michael Stelzer said in a May 31 order that “immediate and irreparable injury” would result if the clinic’s license were allowed to expire.
He set the case for trial on June 4.
Stelzer issued a temporary restraining order requiring the state to preserve the status quo until the court is able to rule on the clinic’s request for a preliminary injunction. The license was set to expire at midnight.
