Medical Informatics Engineering owes $1 million after hackers accessed 3.5 million patients’ health records, and an investigation found the company hadn’t assessed the risks surrounding the information it maintained.
The Indiana-based company signed a resolution agreement with the Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights to pay $100,000 and enter into a two-year corrective action plan, according to a May 23 announcement.
