Michigan State Hit With Record Fine; Bills Peg Sexual Misconduct

The U.S. Department of Education is levying a record $4.5 million fine against Michigan State University, which federal investigators said failed to properly respond to sexual misconduct complaints against convicted school doctor Larry Nassar.

That Sept. 5 fine is the largest in Title IX history and comes a day after the Michigan House approved two bills, H.B. 4372 and H.B. 4373, aimed at cracking down on physician assault. Both measures passed on 108-to-1 votes.
