A bill that would nix Michigan’s nearly 30-year-old law protecting pharmaceutical companies from product liability lawsuits was approved by the state’s Legislature Wednesday evening.
The measure (SB 410), which Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) is likely to sign into law, would repeal what is widely considered to be one of the strongest corporate immunity protection statutes in the country. The legislation passed with bipartisan support in a 79-30 House vote.
