Teen use of menthol cigarettes in England dropped by nearly 10 percentage points in the months following a nationwide prohibition on sales, according to an analysis of survey data released as the U.S. considers its own federal ban.
The study, published Tuesday in the Journal of the American Medical Association, found the rate of menthol cigarette smoking in England among people ages 16 to 19 decreased from 12.1% in February 2020 to 3% in August of that year.
