Medytox’s Claims of Trade Secret Theft Spark ITC Probe

The U.S. International Trade Commission has launched an investigation into claims that South Korea’s Hugel Inc. used secrets stolen from Medytox Inc. to develop the wrinkle treatment Letybo.

Hugel has asked for regulatory approval to sell Letybo in the U.S. Medytox filed a complaint with the ITC in late March, alleging Hugel developed its treatment using a proprietary strain of bacteria stolen from Medytox.

Medytox is seeking an import ban. The ITC issued a notice of investigation Monday. The investigations typically take 15-18 months to complete.
