Mednax’s Row With Atrium Health Heats Up Amid Stock Losses

Mednax Inc.'s contract dispute with Atrium Health is escalating at the same time as it is losing ground on the stock market.

Charlotte, N.C.'s Atrium Health, one of the Southeast’s largest health-care systems, May 7 accused Mednax of engaging in a “smear campaign” to force the system to rethink its decision to drop Mednax as its anesthesia service provider. The charges came in a state court filing answering Mednax’s lawsuit seeking damages resulting from the system’s refusal to renew its contract, which expires June 30.
