A bill that would continue Medicare telehealth services after the Covid-19 public health emergency is lifted was approved by the House on Wednesday.
The Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2022 already extends the Medicare pandemic telehealth provisions for 151 days after the end of the Covid-19 public health emergency. Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra on July 15 renewed the emergency determination for another 90 days, through Oct. 13.
But H.R. 4040, the Advancing Telehealth Beyond COVID-19 Act of 2022, sponsored by Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), would extend the Medicare telehealth waivers through Dec. 31, 2024.
