More than 300,000 additional people may have had personal data exposed through a May data breach involving a file transfer system used by Medicare, the federal agency announced Thursday.
An ongoing investigation into the cyberattack on Progress Software’s MOVEit application identified additional individuals whose personally identifiable information may have been among the exposed files maintained by Maximus Federal Services Inc., the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services said in a press release. This adds to the more than 600,000 people in the Medicare program the agency identified in July.
