A federal judge in Texas vacated provisions of an HHS rule that sought to restrict compensation for insurance intermediaries providing back-office support to independent insurance agents and brokers.
Judge Reed O’Connor of the US District Court for Northern District of Texas on Monday sided with a coalition of health insurance leaders and a field marketing organization in their challenge to a Department of Health and Human Services rule that would have capped Medicare payments at $100 to field marketing organizations that help independent insurance agents and brokers enroll people in Medicare Advantage plans.
