Medicare for All Still Panned by American Medical Association

The American Medical Association will not change its policy opposing Medicare for All after delegates at its annual conference rejected a move to support a single-payer system.

Supporters of a change said they will continue to press their case after attendees rejected their efforts by a 53%-47% margin.

Some 83% of delegates signed on to a report from the AMA Council of Medical Service—without the amendment—calling for policies to “build upon and fix” the Affordable Care Act, known as Obamacare.
