Medical Technology Groups See Green Light for Data Sharing Work

No more faxes. No more CDs. Medical technology companies say they’re ready to build the systems needed for hospitals and doctors to share patient data that will be required under upcoming federal rules.

“What patients and their loved ones want is easy access to their health-care information when they need it,” said Dr. Jean Drouin, the co-founder and CEO of Clarify Health Solutions, which provides software and analytics for health-care systems. “Today’s world of electronic health records is not designed to achieve true interoperability, with patients still frequently needing to obtain their information via fax or CD.”
