Medical, Patient Groups Defend Obamacare’s Preventative Services

Voiding the Affordable Care Act’s preventative services mandate in its entirety would be a mistake, medical and patient groups told a federal judge in Texas, urging him to only restrain the provision’s enforcement against a single employer challenging the mandate.

Separate friend of the court briefs led by the American Medical Association and the American Cancer Society supported the government’s position that a “universal” remedy wouldn’t be appropriate in a suit challenging Obamacare’s requirement that health insurers cover certain preventive health-care services without cost to patients.
