Medical Equipment Firm Lincare Resolves Fraud Case for $5.25M

A Florida-based provider of oxygen and respiratory care services to in-home patients has paid $5.25 million to settle allegations that it offered illegal price reductions to Medicare beneficiaries, the Department of Justice said.

The company, Lincare Inc. is one of the largest providers of respiratory care to in-home patients, with over 1,000 locations nationwide and $1.6 billion in annual revenue, according to the government’s lawsuit.

The settlement comes just over a year after Lincare paid a $20 million settlement in a whistleblower lawsuit that brought similar claims, and amid a growing concern over efforts by drugmakers and device makers ...
