Medicaid Work Requirements Under Way

Medicaid work requirements are becoming a reality this summer, as the first states begin to roll out hefty eligibility changes.

Arkansas launched its plan June 1, while Kentucky is readying for a July 1 start. Indiana, New Hampshire, and a host of other states are expected to follow suit, with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services mulling eight similar proposals.

“It’ll be a fascinating laboratory,” Beth Kuhn, executive adviser with the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services, told Bloomberg Law. Kuhn is spearheading the commonwealth’s Medicaid employment program.
