Medicaid Work Requirement Gets Go-Ahead From Idaho Lawmakers

Idaho residents who gain health coverage through the state’s Medicaid expansion will have to comply with work requirements or face being expelled from the program until they do so under a bill passed by the Legislature April 5.

The measure passed 19-16 in the state Senate. The vote likely ends a weeks-long stalemate in the Republican-dominated Legislature that saw the Senate advocate for a voluntary work program while the House pushed for a mandatory one.

Medicaid expansion will bring coverage beginning in 2020 to some 91,000 new recipients, according to the state Department of Health and Welfare. Enrollment will begin ...
