GOP Pushes Through Medicaid Rollback Plan in Marathon Debate (1)

Republican proposals to change Medicaid, and possibly strip health coverage from millions of Americans in the process, advanced out of the House Energy and Commerce Committee after a marathon 26 hours.

Starting Tuesday afternoon, Rep. Brett Guthrie (R-Ky.) gaveled into the markup with protesters outside chanting, “No cuts to Medicaid.” By the early morning hours Wednesday, lawmakers were still working through several amendments from Democrats,many trying to block provisions of the GOP measure.
