Medicaid Funding Rules for States Get Fresh Look From HHS

The Biden administration is reopening a public comment period on the requirements that states must follow to secure a temporary increase in federal matching funds for their Medicaid programs under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services originally published an interim final rule (IFR) with request for comments on Nov. 6, 2020. But “in light of the possibility of changed circumstances since publication of the IFR and other policy considerations, CMS is considering modifying those requirements,” said the new CMS interim final rule released Friday.
