Georgia won’t be able to require people on Medicaid to work as a condition of eligibility, the Biden administration announced.
“In light of the ongoing disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Georgia’s work requirements significantly compromise the state demonstration’s effectiveness in promoting coverage for intended beneficiaries,” the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services said Thursday in a news release. The CMS said it notified the state in a letter.
The action is a continuation of the Biden administration’s efforts to unwind Trump-era policy priorities in the Medicaid program such as work requirements.
