Massachusetts Nursing Homes Cited Over Federal Safety Violations

Nursing homes in Massachusetts failed to comply with federal safety standards, potentially putting the health and safety of patients, staff, and visitors at risk, federal watchdogs say.

The Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General randomly audited 20 nursing facilities across the state for its report released Wednesday. The auditors found 236 deficiencies, including 128 related to life safety, 57 to emergency preparedness, and 51 to infection control at the nursing homes.
