Mass Layoffs, Funding Freeze Threaten Local Health Programs (1)

Public health leaders from some of the largest US cities are preparing for massive disruptions to their vaccination campaigns and other programs amid the Trump administration’s mass layoffs of health workers and plan to freeze federal grants.

Health departments in cities such as New York have lost staff members assigned to them by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to help with contact tracing, community outreach, and more, local health leaders told reporters in Washington on Wednesday after a two-day meeting of the Big Cities Health Coalition.
