Maryland Treatment Centers to Pay $500K Over Billing Claims

A detox facility in Maryland will pay $500,000 to resolve allegations that it billed Medicaid for substance abuse and mental health services that were either undocumented or not provided.

The settlement resolves whistleblower allegations against Maryland Treatment Centers, also known as Mountain Manor Treatment Centers, a substance abuse and mental health services provider with facilities in Baltimore and Rockville, Md.

The case involved “small documentation errors” and the company settled “to avoid the expense and distraction of litigation, and instead to focus on its core mission of providing care to underserved patients with substance use problems,” the company’s attorney, Jerrold ...
