Maine Family Planning Group Joins Legal Fray Over Medicaid Cuts

A major family planning care provider in Maine is suing the Trump administration over its new prohibition on Medicaid dollars going to Planned Parenthood and other large reproductive health centers that offer abortion care.

The provision in Republicans’ multitrillion-dollar tax and spending law largely aimed at pausing Medicaid funds to Planned Parenthood for a year also unconstitutionally strips Maine Family Planning—a network of 18 reproductive health care clinics—of federal dollars that the organization relies on to provide contraception, STI testing, and other care to Medicaid patients, the state provider argued in its lawsuit filed Wednesday in the US District Court ...
