Battle Against Long Covid Gets Jump Start With Clinical Trials

The Department of Health and Human Services is ratcheting up efforts to combat long Covid and advance therapeutics for the affliction, kicking off clinical trials this year and moving to set up an office focusing on research and practice, an agency official said Wednesday.

“Foundational research is already providing valuable insights and informing the development of long Covid clinical trials, which will start in 2023,” HHS Assistant Secretary Rachel Levine said Wednesday. Her remarks came as part of a health equity summit organized by the HHS’ Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
