Life Hope Labs of Sandy Springs, Ga., has agreed pay $16,500 and implement corrective measures to resolve a potential violation of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, the Department of Health and Human Services said Tuesday.
Life Hope Labs allegedly delivered a personal representative a copy of her late father’s medical records more than seven months after she requested them. An investigation by the HHS Office for Civil Rights found the company’s failure to provide medical records in a timely manner to be a potential violation of the HIPAA right of access provision, the agency said.
