A federal judge paused a legal battle between the US Department of Health and Human Services and a children’s clinic over a transgender health-care rule following a change in priorities announced by the Trump administration.
The rule at the center of the dispute was issued by the Biden administration and says Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act blocks discrimination on gender identity grounds.
President Donald Trump and HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. have both signaled their intent to reverse the rule, which the agency was previously blocked from enforcing through another lawsuit.
