L.A. Times Wins Access to Records in USC Patient Sex Abuse Case

Los Angeles Times Communications LLC convinced a federal court to open records filed confidentially in a class action alleging sex abuse at the University of Southern California.

The publisher of The Los Angeles Times filed a timely motion to intervene to make the documents public, the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California said May 21. It satisfied the requirements for permissive intervention under federal court procedural rules, the court said.

Physician George Tyndall allegedly abused hundreds of women while working at USC, which was accused of covering up and enabling the misconduct.
