Krave Botanicals Can’t Shed Fraud Claim in Kratom Addiction Suit

Ashlynn Marketing Group Inc. failed to convince a federal judge to dismiss consumer protection and fraud claims in a proposed class action alleging the company failed to disclose how addictive its kratom products were.

The company, which does business as Krave Botanicals, sells kratom powder, capsule, and liquid extract products but doesn’t warn consumers that the substance affects opioid receptors in the brain in the same way morphine works, consumers alleged.

The US District Court for the Southern District of California on Sept. 20 largely rejected Krave’s argument that the consumers’ claims were time-barred. Krave said the statute of limitations ...
