Kennedy Faces Mounting Pressure to Explain Layoffs to Lawmakers

US Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is facing increasing calls to come before lawmakers to justify sweeping staffing cuts across his agency.

“We have been asking to meet with the secretary since Feb. 13 of this year,” Rep. Diana DeGette (D-Colo.) said Wednesday in front of the US Department of Health and Human Services headquarters.

Earlier that morning, DeGette and Democrats on the House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee entered the HHS building and requested a meeting with Kennedy.
