Johns Hopkins Health Beats New Jersey Laboratory’s Payment Suit

A medical testing laboratory can’t pursue payment claims against a Maryland health-care insurer in New Jersey because the insurer didn’t have strong enough contacts with the state to be required to defend a suit there, a federal court said.

Johns Hopkins HealthCare LLC has its principal place of business in Maryland, the US District Court for the District of New Jersey said Tuesday in an unpublished opinion. The insurer wasn’t formed in New Jersey and doesn’t have substantial operations there, the court said.
