A collectibles company’s principal and his wife are appealing rulings requiring them to pay the SEC $70 million for defrauding investors in connection with Jackie Robinson memorabilia.
Collector’s Coffee Inc. founder Mykalai Kontilai told the US District Court for the Southern District of New York on Thursday that he’s appealing the judgment against him, a day after his spouse Veronica Kontilai announced an appeal. She was ordered to disgorge funds as a relief defendant, meaning she allegedly retained assets that could be recovered but wasn’t accused of wrongdoing.
