Indiana’s Covid-19 Law Shields System From Liability for Death

Indiana health-care providers can’t be held liable for a patient’s bedsore-related death following his treatment for Covid-19, the state’s top court said.

The anonymous providers are protected by a state health emergency law that shields them from civil liability for injuries stemming from actions taken in response to Covid-19, even though the virus didn’t cause the patient’s death, the Indiana Supreme Court said Wednesday. The court affirmed summary judgment for the anonymous providers.
