Idaho’s anti-abortion law forces doctors to ignore their medical expertise and delay patient care, a group of major medical associations told a federal court.
The Department of Justice is suing Idaho over its strict anti-abortion law that allows any doctor to be prosecuted for performing an abortion, regardless of the circumstances. The Biden administration argues that Idaho’s law conflicts with the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act, which requires hospitals to stabilize patients with emergency medical conditions.
