The Internet Architecture Board (IAB) July 26 issued policy guidance aimed at adding privacy considerations into the Internet Engineering Task Force’s (IETF) process of developing internet standards.
The guidance, labeled Request for Comments: 6973, is known in IETF parlance as an “Informational RFC,” meaning that it constitutes guidance, and lacks the more compelling impact of a so-called standards-track RFC.
The IAB is a committee of the IETF that provides oversight of architectural aspects of standards development.
